Francis Chan on Humility Versus Pride

Humility is the virtue that sustains a relationship. Pride is the disease that erodes every facet of it.

A Small Group consists of insecure, sinful, hurting people that have been washed clean by the blood of Jesus. Despite our new identity that was secured by the gospel, our flesh is ever present to remind us of the fallenness of the world. Therefore, humility is the fruit of the “new creation” and pride is the fruit of the “old creation” that was crucified with Christ (2 Cor. 5:17).

It is impossible to avoid disagreements and hurt in your Small Group entirely However, what we can control is our response when these things arise. We can choose to respond in humility, or we can choose to respond in pride.

How do we guarantee a humble response?

In this sermon, pastor Francis Chan unpacks how to soak our hearts in the Bible so that we produce the fruit of humility.
